On Politics

I at first said that I would not include this topic, but I feel that I must with the latest developments going on in our country.

I don't claim to be Republican or Democrat.

I don't choose a side because I can't put my support behind someone who is more concerned with what is happening in the rest of the world, while our children go abused and our families go hungry. We have millions of people in this country who are dealing with the HIV/AIDS virus, yet we send billons of dollars to other countries to combat it there. I understand that they are poor and have bad medical attention, but charity begins at home and you take care of your own first. We have thousands daily who enter this country illegally and stop by the welfare office on the way in to sign up. We have possibly a million jobs that as a result of the North American Free Trade Agreement have gone south of the border and left our hardworking brothers and sisters out of work all over the country. All of this is happening and our goverment says we are gonna give tax cuts to those who would buy a SUV, to those who invest lots of money in business. I hate to sound my horn but what about those of us who barely make it through a paycheck, those who work to keep this country going and then go home to ramen noodles, or worse nothing at all. We have a whole section of the population that make too little to survive, yet too much for public assistance. I find it hard to make it on my salary, then wonder how my grandfather survives on $689.00 a month when there wasn't alot of options for retirement benefits when you worked in a field most of your life. Why cant we take care of our own. Well I guess we do, if they own a house in the Hamptons, or a summer home on Martha's Vineyard, or a penthouse on the upper east side.
