2004 - Eastbound and Down

The talk about reduction in flying in Chicago was true and in April I chose to be relocated to the Washington D.C. Area before being moved later in the year by base closure. I again found a nice place in suburbian Alexandria, VA and was based at Washington Dulles International Airport. Its about a 22 miles drive, but I am cool with that as I am close to DC and can go into the city on a moment's notice when I want.

I was lucky enough to find a landlord who is rarely home and lives in a highrise building. I loved where I lived and moved in there on May 1. Its been a whirlwind summer with me only getting to even hit a pool once this summer and nothing really special happening. I have dated a few nice guys and I guess I run them off, cause nothing seems to be sticking so far. (Heh Heh)

I figure when its time for me to find someone, he will find me, or just kinda happen to me. I plan to start going out more when I can.

I went to Denver for the first time at the end of August/First of September to visit a fellow Flight Attendant and got a chance to see my cousin whom I haven't seen in years. Damn she looks good..If I were straight.......(yeah yeah yeah,,,I know..aint gonna happen)

At the beginning of September, my landlord told me he had sold the condo and we had to be out at the end of September as per the closing agreement. He agreed to rent me the bedroom in the 1br condo he had taken upstairs for a month until I could make other arrangements.

At the end of October I knew I had to make a choice so I made a tough one. I decided to become a commuter and return to my favorite place to live, Florida. I stayed with a friend there for a couple weeks until I found a place in Oakland Park, a suburb of Fort Lauderdale. I paid the same amount for a one bedroom there in the Lauderdale area that I paid for a single bedroom in Virginia.

The end of 2004 and into 2005 found me settling back into Florida, this time in the place that I left to be with someone who didn't really know what he wanted. (Hmmm, was that the worker, or the BOSS.) I enjoying coming back after every trip to my cute little place. Its personal enough to be mine, but sterile enough to remind me that there is something better out there. I love one of my neighbors, she is a doll, the rest, a little freaky, but people none the less.

I have had someone trying and "jimmy" my sliding door open once since I have been here, and I had to have the door sealed to make it impossible to open without breaking. I also installed a security alarm in my house. I have never had to do that before, so it makes me a little wary. The ways of the city.

I had a landlord who likes to find reasons to enter my apartment when I am not home. THIS TOTALLY FREAKS ME OUT. I have been told that this is against the law here in FL and have been meaning to tell him that I am aware of such.

I am finding it hard to make friends this time around down here. I don't know if its the area, or maybe something in me has changed. Its harder to trust sometimes, when people don't even know the meaning of the words "truth" and "honesty" anymore. There are two sides to most people, the person they are, and the person you see and one is most often NOT the other.

I wasflying more with work and I am deeply involved and passionate with labor relations at my job. This pretty much drove my life. People in general don't want to be around someone who is never home, who can never nail down a date as to when they are available, and the like. My work was my first priority and I have made a commitment to my coworkers as one of their elected representatives and for at least the next 2 years.

Fort Lauderdale is a strange place for meeting people. There are alot of Plastic people here. Its hard in that I have always been upfront with people and as honest as I could be about things. There are alot of people here who do not share my philosophy.

In October 2005, I met a great guy named Sean. I met him online while living on my own, and in late November, I moved in with him. We lived a few blocks behind Georgie's Alibi in Wilton Manors and it was great.

2006 is seeing my job at Independence Air coming to an end. We have been told the company is running out of money and will not last long.
